Motivation Matters: Why Jesus Cares About the Heart Behind Our Giving

Jesus isn’t just watching what we do—He cares deeply about why we do it. In a recent sermon on Matthew 6:1–4, Pastor Daniel reminded us that our motivation is not an accessory to righteousness—it is righteousness.
Are we giving, serving, or sacrificing for applause? Or out of love for God?
Jesus urges us to give quietly, without fanfare, because what we do in secret is seen and honored by God. As one of this week’s devotionals said, we are not owners—we’re delivery drivers of God’s blessings.
Everything we have—our money, time, talents—are packages from above, meant to be delivered to others.
So this week, we’re challenging everyone at Covenant to complete three acts of generosity in secret. Don’t tell anyone. Don’t post it. Just deliver. And watch how God rewards what no one else sees.
Want to grow in joy-filled, humble generosity? Join us this Sunday to hear more.
